摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To make it possible to use various kinds of batteries by conducting low battery detection or full-charging detection which is different from type to type of various kinds of batteries having different characteristics. CONSTITUTION:Using a low battery detection level and a full-charging detection level which are different between a nickel-cadmium (Ni-Cd) battery and a nickel- hydrogen (Ni-MH) battery, the capacity-declined state and the full-charged state of a battery 111 is detected. In this case, which detection level is used for detecting is decided by the type of a battery to be used as the battery 11 for driving a power supply, the nickel-cadmium (Ni-Cd) battery or the nickel- hydrogen (Ni-MH) battery. By this method, a power supply controller 12 can conduct a low-battery detection or a full-charging detection which is different from type to type of the batteries and thereby various kinds of batteries can be used in one and the same portable computer.</p>
