The device comprises at least one gouging tool (4) movable vertically to the endface (1) of the block which has strips formed to closed the gouging ring (5). The cover surface (5a) of the closed gouging ring runs parallel to the direction of movement of the gouging tool. The outer contour of the ring corresponds to the inner contour of the recess to be formed. The thickness of the plate strip is pref. 0.5 mm. The gouging ring is turned away from the endface and is closed by a cover (6). USE/ADVANTAGE - To form grip pockets for handling purposes in plastic, unhardened porous concrete blocks.
