<p>The proposed circuit finds its principal application in the production, by very large scale integration, of structures known as Artificial Neural Networks. In particular the circuit is suitable to perform the synaptic connections of these. In fact it supplies an output current that is equal to a sigmoidal function of the product of the analogue input voltage and a coefficient stored in digital form. The storage in digital form of the synaptic weight and the ability to perform multiplication in analogue form convert it into a hybrid analogue-digital circuit permitting it to benefit fully from the speeds of calculation due to the analogue environment and the storage ability of the digital. <IMAGE></p> |
