PURPOSE:To reduce the loss of connection by integrating an optical waveguide, a thin film type optical switch, and a reflection corner which changes the traveling direction of a light signal on the same substrate. CONSTITUTION:While a voltage V is not applied to an electrode 3, a light signal projected from an optical fiber 6 shown by (a) passes below the electrode 3 through an optical fiber 2 and is connected to an optical fiber 6 shown by (d) and a light signal from an optical fiber 6 shown by (b) is connected to an optical fiber 6 shown by (c) similarly, so that a cross state is entered. When the voltage V is applied to the electrode 3, on the other hand, the gap part between the electrodes 3 and 3' vary in refractive index owing to electrooptic effect, so the light signal projected from the optical fiber 6 shown by (a) is reflected by the electrode gap part and connected to the optical fiber 6 shown by (c) and the light signal from the optical fiber 6 shown by (b) is connected to the optical fiber 6 shown by (d) similarly, so that a through state is entered. Thus, the loss of connection is reducible. |
