This system consists of a rear slot/underwing flap 3 assembly, arranged so that the front wall 4 of the slot, formed integrally with the two skins 6 and 7 forms a brake in continuity with the underwing flap 3 when it is lowered. The rear wall 6 of this slot consists of the dorsal skin. A flap 2, called upper surface flap, blocks off the dorsal entry of the slot, and opens at the request of the pilot. The lowering of the underwing flap 3 will cause the conventional underpressure between this flap and the rear wall of the slot, this underpressure, which will be related to the simultaneous opening of the upper surface flap 2, will be transmitted instantaneously to the dorsal entry of the slot where it will act so as to suck in the layer of air passing over the upper surface of the wing, speeding it up and therefore causing lift augmentation. A retractable safety slat 1 is used for its property of accelerating the speed of the airstreams passing over the upper surface, enhancing the effect of sucking in the layer of air by the rear slot/underwing flap assembly, further increasing their speed and consequently the lift augmentation. <IMAGE>
