Fig. 1 shows a design based on a stand (4) carrying a jib (2) slewed about a vertical column (7) by a drive (10) which can be an electric motor (as shown) or an air or hydraulic cylinder a similar drive (15) is fitted to rotate a set of arms (11) on the end of the jib (2). The arms are indexable and can carry workholders or other devices as required. A piston (16) can be fitted for lifting the arms (11) or both the arms and the jib. ADVANTAGE - Can be fitted to numerous new and existing types of machines. Is relatively compact and simple and does not hinder the access to the machines.
