<p>A wood preservative comprises a styryl triazole derivative of the formula [I] <CHEM> wherein X represents chlorine or hydrogen, as an active ingredient. This wood preservative is useful in methods for effectively preserving wood or controlling wood rotting fungi and does not undergo undue discoloration, even under irradiation with light.</p>
