<p>PURPOSE:To improve the coding efficiency by separating only information with strong correlation with a succeeding video frame among information included in a video frame being a coding object so as to use the information for movement compensation prediction. CONSTITUTION:An inputted video signal is delayed by several frames at a frame delay section 13 and moving compensation prediction processing is implemented at a 2nd movement compensation prediction section 14 between the delayed video signal and a video signal stored in a frame memory section 12. A 1st movement compensation prediction section 11 implements movement compensation prediction between the inputted video signal and a video signal stored in the frame memory section 12 in parallel. The predicted values are compared by a prediction signal selection section 15. Then the difference between both the predicted values and an original video signal is obtained respectively and a difference square sum (error energy) is calculated respectively. As a result, the predicted value having a smaller difference square sum is selected and outputted.</p> |
