The invention relates to a verandah which allows two kinds of closing system; the original closing system at the facade (3b) or the creation of a closed verandah (3c). The glazed facade can be stored in a storage space (3a) in order to provide totally free access. It consists of a roof assembly (1) which is fixed, foldable or made up of interfitting arch elements, of a portal frame (5), of a tie assembly (6) which is capable of being fixed in overhanging fashion to a facade. The verandah can be equipped with a box structure (20) containing a solar protection element which is unwound manually or mechanically over the roof. A set of glazed panels (3) slide between a guiding rail (4a) embedded in the ground and a top guiding section (4b) by means of rolling elements (18c) (18d) mounted on a pivoting spindle in order to follow the bends in the rails (4a) (4b). The verandah according to the invention is particularly intended for establishments which do not wish to take up permanently an area of ground in the public domain. <IMAGE>
