PURPOSE:To produce a resin molding excellent in surface smoothness, low in unevenness of thickness especially in the case of a sheet and capable of providing a high-accuracy product such as an optical component by polishing the surface of a thermoplastic saturated norbornene-based resin molding. CONSTITUTION:A resin molding having the surface in which the maximum height of a part or the whole surface is <=0.05mum, preferably <=0.03mum corresponding to the purpose, obtained by adding, as necessary, a phenolic or phosphate antioxidant, on antistatic agent, a leveling agent, etc., to a thermoplastic saturated norbornene-based resin having 10000-200000, especially 25000-120000 number-average molecular weight, molding the resultant mixture by using any of various kinds of molding methods and polishing the resultant molding, especially a sheet-shaped material by using free abrasive grains (alumina, silica, etc.) preferably having 0.1-20mum, especially 0.5-10mum particle size. The above- mentioned molding is suitable especially for an optics, etc., having a requirement for a low birefringence and a low birefringence distribution in the fields where excellent surface smoothness is required. |
