PURPOSE:To improve a quick photographing not by operating an inversion driving when a relative distance at a recognized time of point is within a focal depth width corresponding to a peak value, but by operating the inversion driving to a part where the relative distance can be within the nearest focal depth width when it is beyond the focal depth width. CONSTITUTION:An objective light is fetched through a focusing lens 1, and imaged on the light receiving face of an image pickup element 2 as an objective image. An output signal from the image pickup element 2 is sampled/hold by a pickup image processing circuit 3, outputted from an output terminal part 4 to a video recording and reproducing system as an image pickup signal, and a prescribed high frequency component is extracted by a BPF circuit 5 as a contrast value. Moreover, it is fetched through an A/D conversion circuit 6 by the RAM of an arithmetic processing circuit 7. The lens 1 is moved to a prescribed position through a motor drive circuit 9 and a motor 8 by the circuit 7 at the time of a focusing detecting operation and a focusing operation. At that time, when the relative distance at the recognized point of time is within the focal depth width corresponding to the peak value, the inversion driving is not operated, and when it is beyond the focal depth width, the inversion driving is operated so that it can be within the focal depth width. |
