The invention relates to a device for injecting ions at the centre of a cyclotron in a direction perpendicular to the magnetic field of the cyclotron without being deflected by this field. It consists, outside the magnet, of an ion source (1), accelerator electrodes (2) and (3), a focusing coil (4) and a low-pressure gas cell (5) outside the magnet, in which the beam is neutralised, and a thin sheet (10) of solid materials inside the magnet (9), in which the beam becomes charged again. The device according to the invention is particularly intended for injecting protons into cyclotrons used for medical applications. <IMAGE>
