A special eye must be kept on the laying of the sheet on the delivery stack, especially in the range of high machine speeds. The purpose of the present invention is to propose a device for controlling and/or regulating the setting elements in the sheet delivery region of a sheet printing machine. The settings of the setting elements of the sheet delivery are calculated with reference to characteristics specific to the paper and printing machine in such a way that the sheet being placed on top of the sheet stack is virtually stationary.
