Assembly to maintain a constant tension on a running yarn as it is drawn from its supply bobbin, either separately or as a band of yarns, is arranged so that the guide rollers (16,18) of the guide roller holder (19) are on a straight line through their centres together with the centre of the roller (17) of the brake lever (3), acting directly on the yarn (15) between them. The brake roller (17) can be lifted upwards on the brake lever (3), so that the yarn (15) can be laid over the guide rollers (16, 18). When the brake lever (3) is returned to the working position the roller (17) depresses the yarn (15) so that it follows a serpentine path through the three rollers (16,17,18), and a structured braking action is applied according to the required tension. Clearing the path by lifting the brake roller (17) clear also allows a number of yarns to be laid in place easily at the tensioning station. ADVANTAGE - The assembly simplifies the threading of the yarn through the tensioner.
