Intercooler for two=stage compressor - uses temp. sensors and control circuit to open valve allowing spray of condensed fluid between compressor stages

The intercooler circuit for a two stage compressor (1) has the driving motor (4) between the LP and HP stages (2,3). Temp. sensors before the motor (13) and after the HP stage (14) give signals to a control unit (8) which regulates an e.m. valve (9) in the intercooler pipeline (10). This taps off from a point between the condenser (5) and the expansion valve (6) and feeds into the compressor just after the LP stage. If the temp. either at entry to the motor or at exit from the HP stage exceeds a threshold, the intercooler valve is opened to allow an amt. of cold condensed fluid to be sprayed into the hot compressed gas after the LP stage. ADVANTAGE - Regulated intercooling independent of fluid used to give required exit temp. at HP stage.
