PURPOSE:To provide a speed change control device, for an automatic transmis sion for a car, to prohibit the shiftdown of the automatic transmission in the case where the output torque of an engine increases in spite of no drives request for acceleration and moreover not being in the deceleration running of the car. CONSTITUTION:In the case where a car is judged to be in a state where the output torque of an engine increases in spite of no driver's request for acceleration and moreover not being in the deceleration running of the car on steps S2-S4, the shift down of an automatic transmission is prohibited on a step S11. Thus in the case where an internal combustion engine is provided with a turbocharger or the like, the engine output torque not interlocking with pressing down of an accel pedal and an increase in the opening of a throttle valve, namely the shift down of the automatic speed change gear caused by the change of intake air quantity per unit revolution against drivers will inspite of not being in the deceleration state of the car can be suitably prevented from occurring. |
