A detachable assembly for a tool (1) connected to a driving mechanism such as a punch, drill or sewing machine, consists of a tool holder (3) and a fixing head (4), mounted on the end of a rod (2). The tool holder is formed by an insert which is located on a seat (4a) on the head, where it is held in position by two jaws (6a,7a) on the ends of articulated and spring-loaded levers (6,7) which are pivoted to the head. The precise positioning of the tool holder w.r.t. the seat is ensured by the upper edge of the tool holder engaging with a groove in the seat, where it is held by tabs (10a,10b) on the ends of a leaf spring (10).
