PURPOSE:To bring a flexible tubular image carrying member into soft contact with the surface of a developing sleeve and to prevent the flawing of the photosensitive layer on the surface of the image carrying member by disposing the carrying member having the diameter larger than the diameter of a roller on the outer periphery of the roller. CONSTITUTION:The flexible image carrying member 10 is disposed on the outer periphery of the roller 11 having the diameter slightly smaller than the diameter of this image carrying member 10. The surplus length part of the image carrying member 10 projects following to the rotation of the image carrying member 10 and, therefore, this part is brought into contact with the developing sleeve 21 provided in a developing device 20, by which development is executed. The flexible image carrying members constituted by providing a vapor depositing film of As2Se3 on the surface of a nickel electrocasting belt and coating the surface of a nylon tube with a polyester resin dispersed with bisazo pigments are sued as the above-mentioned image carrying member 10. The damaging on the photosensitive layer on the surface of the image carrying member is prevented by bringing the image carrying member into soft contact with the surface of the developing sleeve. |
