The loading gear is normally stored under the truck alongside the chassis and is powered by hydraulic rams fitted to the chassis. Two loading arms (3), with extensible construction, lift the load via slings (30). In the loading position the arms are braced on the ground behind the truck on ground support plates (6). The loading gear is extended and dropped behind the truck. A separate ram spreads the spacing of the arms so that they are spaced wider than the width of the truck. The lifting action is via an automatic control (14).
