A TREAD WITH MULTIPLE PITCHING An asymmetric tread (12) for a tire having two sets of pitches (60, 70) is described. The pitches (60, 70) differ from one another in pitch sequence, total number of pitches, number of pitch lengths, pitch boundary shape or orientation. The pitches of one set (60) are laterally adjacent the pitches of the other set (70). Each pitch has circumferentially spaced first and second pitch boundaries (62, 64, 73, 74). The pitch boundaries (62, 64, 72, 74) are angularly oriented relative to a plane perpendicular to the axis of rotation. The angular orientation is acute preferably in the range from 20.degree. to 70.degree..
