The actuator contains a pivotable hand lever (16) with which a control part (12) fed out of a valve housing and coupled to the valve piston is operated so as to move the piston. The hand lever has a supporting surface (38) at a distance from the lever's rotation point (18) matched to the rotation point and/or coupling point (28) so that there is a non-linear relationship between the pivot angle (ALPHA or BE TA) and the stroke of the control part. There is a larger motion reduction in a central control region than in the end region. USE/ADVANTAGE - Esp. for continuously controllable flow valve in hydraulic system. Actuator operates effectively over required ranges.
