PURPOSE:To provide a method for purifying a hydrogen-containing CO gas capable of removing the hydrogen in the CO gas containing a relatively small amount of the hydrogen to an ultrafine amount without the deposition of carbon and without sublimation caused by the production of carbonyl compounds, and to provide a method for producing acetic acid in a simplified purification process in a state of the extremely reduced corrosibility of the reactional system in a high selectivity and in a high yield by employing the CO gas purified in the above method. CONSTITUTION:In a method for purifying a hydrogen-containing CO gas, the hydrogen-containing CO gas is introduced into a reactor charged with a catalyst carried on a heat-resistant carrier and, simultaneously, subjected to a catalytic methane-producing reaction under a constant condition to remove the hydrogen contained in the gas. In the method for producing the acetic acid, the purified CO gas obtained by the above hydrogen-containing CO gas-purifying method and containing a hydrogen content of <=2vol.% is subjected to a catalytic reaction with methanol in the presence of a carbon-carried rhodium metal catalyst and a methyl iodide reaction accelerator in a gaseous phase. |
