PURPOSE:To offer the small-sized multi-unit optical fiber switch and connection switching method which provide low-loss coupling and facilitate repair maintenance. CONSTITUTION:The optical fiber switch consists of a connection part holding plate 6 provided with a hole wherein the connector plug 3-1 and dummy connector plug 3-3 of an upper optical fiber group 2 are arrayed and fitted, the upper optical fiber group 2 which is fitted to the connection part holding plate 6, a lower optical fiber group 2 which is coupled with the connector plug 3-1 of the upper optical fiber group 2, connector transportation inserting and extracting mechanisms 15 which consist of connector plug grippers 16-1 and 16-2 and three-directional positioning mechanisms and provided on both sides of the connection part holding plate 6, a controller 19 which controls the operation of the connector transportation inserting and extracting mechanism 15, and the connector plug 3-2 of the lower optical fiber group 2. |
