PURPOSE:To miniaturize a circuit for starting a discharge lamp and reduce its cost. CONSTITUTION:A capacitor C2 is connected between output terminals (a, b) of a discharge lamp stabilizer INV through a current limiting element R1, semiconductor switch elements TR11, TR12 almost simultaneously continued and the primary windings n11, n21 of pulse transformers PT11, PT12 are connected in series, respectively, and two series connected bodies consisting of the primary windings n11, n21 and the semiconductor switching elements TR11, TR12 are connected in parallel to each other to form a closed circuit to the capacitor C2. In the position where the currents of the primary windings n11, n21 of the pulse transformers PT11, PT12 are combined together within the closed circuit formed by the capacitor C2 and the two series connected bodies, a current- limiting inductor L1 is inserted and connected. Since the pulse generating capacitor C2 and the current limiting inductor L1 are commonly used for the two pulse transformers PT11, PT12, a circuit for starting a discharge lamp DL can be miniaturized, and its cost can be reduced. |
