The heating or air conditioning is for the passenger compartment of a vehicle, having a fresh and cold air channel (5) and a warm air channel (6) leading to a mixing chamber (4). Both of these can be controlled by two or more Venetian blind type flaps (13, 14). During part open conditions air flowing through the cold channel is directed by the flap to the outlet region of the warm channel. Air flow through the warm channel is directed by the flap to the outlet region of the cold channel. ADVANTAGE - System which allows an intensive mixing of airflows without the need for an enlarged mixing chamber.
