Primers (I) contain: (A) acrylate copolymer-based dispersion; (B) crosslinker; (C) filler; opt. (D) auxiliaries; and (E) water. (A) is based on acrylate ester copolymer with Tg approx. 0 deg.C. (B) is based on adipic acid dihydrazide, latent isocyanate hardener and/or emulsifiable epoxide resin. (C) is mixt. (II) of quartz and kaolinite. (D) is thickener, antioxidant and/or preservative. (I) also contain dispersion of a PU, SEBS, SIS, EVA, PVAc, CR and/or MR, partic. at up to 25% (all pts.wt.) on the acrylate (copolymer). Esp. (I) contain (on solids) 45-95% acrylate copolymer, 1-10% (B), 5-40% (C), and 0-3% (D). USE/ADVANTAGE - Used for priming of surfaces, partic. as adhesion promoter in bonding decorative sheets to chipboard panels in furniture mfr. by urea resins, dispersion wood glues or hot melt adhesives. (I) are storage-stable and avoid problems with exact metering, mixing limited pot life and disposal of remainders met with in using aq. 2-component systems and are at least as effective as these.
