Plastic ribbed tube mfr. - using in-line cooler and speed control to produce constant pitch ribs on tubes

Means for the manufacture of plastic ribbed tubing in which the ribs are formed in a rib-forming machine and the ribbed tube at least partially cooled before exit from the machine. The ribbed tube exits the rib-forming machine such that it is of the desired form and pitch. It is then fed into an in-line cooler which further cools the ribbed tube. During normal operation the speed of the ribbed tubing exiting the cooler is measured and compared with the speed of the rib-forming machine. The speed of the ribbed tube near the exit from the cooler is adjusted to be as close as possible to the speed of the rib-forming machine.
