An electrical noise absorber comprises an elongate magnetic body 23 attached at one or both ends to a flat cable 21 by a respective fixing member 1a, 1b. The or each fixing member comprises a through hole for passing the magnetic body 23 therethrough and a pair of parallel side walls 9. Each of the side walls 9 has a cable receiving slot 11 which may be stepped or have projections 15 formed therein for engaging the side edges of the flat cable 21. Members 19 are provided adjacent the top and bottom of the through hole for engaging the upper and lower surfaces of the magnetic body 23. The fixing members can stably support a flat cable narrower than the inner dimension of the magnetic body 23, because the through holes in the fixing members allow the fixing members to be slid along the length of the magnetic body 23 towards each other until the ends of the slots 11 engage the side edges of the cable.
