PURPOSE:To eliminate the necessity of providing a slice base additionally and prevent a material from generating cracks or the like when being cut by sucking and fixing and end surface on the cutting side of a column-shaped material by means of suction pads or the like during the cutting. CONSTITUTION:The base end side of a column-shaped material 10 is fixed and a plurality of cylinders 31 are disposed facing to an end surface on the cutting side of the column-shaped material, while suction pads 35 for vacuum sucking on pistons 34 of respective cylinders through spherical bearings. Respective suction pads 35 are pressed to the end surface of the column-shaped material 10 by actuating a plurality of cylinders 31 before starting the cutting of the column-shaped material 10, and after that, the pressing force for the suction pads 35 by means of the cylinders 31 is released, and then the pistons 34 of respective cylinders 31 are fixed not to move forward nor backward while respective suction pads are sucked on the end surface of the column-shaped material 10 and the column-shaped material 10 is cut with a revolving blade 12. |
