A combine harvester (10) is disclosed which comprises a threshing and separating mechanism (26) including a threshing drum (28) and cooperating concave means (32) for processing harvested crop material inbetween as this material passes from an inlet (62) to an outlet of said concave means (32). The concave means (32) extend around the lower half of the threshing drum (28) over an arc of 180 DEG and comprise a leading portion (94) and a trailing portion (96) as seen in the direction from said inlet (62) to said outlet. The main function of the leading concave portion (94) is to thresh the crop material passing thereover and to this end is adjustable relative to the threshing drum (28) to suit all sorts of crops and crop conditions. The trailing concave portion (96) on the other hand in essence is operable to separate the grain from the straw material and is fixedly mounted relative to the threshing drum (28). <IMAGE>
