(I) are of formula (I) where n = 1-70; R1, R2 = H, 1-6C alkyl, 7-12C aralkyl, aryl, or carbon ester, or R1 with R2 = tetra- to hexa-methylene gp. or opt. substd. fluorene-typering of specified formula; X, Y = O, S, or NR7 where R7 = H, 1-8C alkyl, or 7-12C aralkyl; M = (II) where R3, R4, R5, R6 = alkyl, or R3 with R4, and R5 with R6, form with attached C atom, 5 or 6-membered ring, R8 = H or alkyl, or with attached C atom, denotes =C:O, and R9 = H or further bond to spiro-linked bridge member -B- (A then denoting direct bond); each D= -(CH2)m-, where m = 1-20, or, if residue M is joined with A through N atom, can also be a direct bond, at least one gp. -M-D being present, with M in this gp. being linked to D via N atom; each A = opt. substd. N, COOH, CO, SO2, SO2NH2, or direct bond; B = bridge member or direct bond; C has 20 meanings, e.g., H, acyl, Cl, OH, NH2, or gp. of formula (III) wherein each R13 = H or CH2OR14 where R14 = H or 1-22C alkyl opt. interrupted by ether O, N or S, or the R13 together denote -CH2-N (R15)-CH2 where R15 has 28 meanings, e.g., 1-22C alkyl.
