METHOD FOR PROLIFERATING GENTIAN BY SOMATIC CELL EMBRYO

PURPOSE:To proliferate homogeneous gentians in large amounts by extracting tissual pieces of the gentians, culturing the extracted tissual pieces of the gentians in an artificial culture medium, forming somatic cell embryos (through formation of calli) from the tissual pieces and then forming seedlings. CONSTITUTION:Tissual pieces of gentians are extracted and then cultured in an artificial culture medium containing a plant growth regulating hormone to directly form somatic cell embryos from the tissual pieces or the somatic cell embryos are formed through formation of calli. The resultant somatic cell embryos are subsequently cultured in a culture medium at a reduced concentration of the plant growth hormone or without containing the plant growth hormone and formed into seedlings. Thereby, the proliferation of the gentians with the somatic cell embryos is carried out.
