The invention provides polymers of esters of (meth)acrylic acid and the vinyl ester of a branched chain carboxylic acid; latices containing such polymers and their preparation; coating compositions comprising such latices; and solid polymeric products such as redispersible latex powders formed by physical drying of such latices. The present polymers provide attractive combination of properties to latices and coatings.
