<p>PURPOSE:To eliminate an erroneous detection and a faulty action peculiar to an electric contact switching system for positive error detection by detecting optically the activated amount of a stapler which binds a stacked sheet bundle by running a staple of specified form through the bundle and thereby interpreting whether or not the bundle is bound satisfactorily. CONSTITUTION:A stapler 17 is equipped with a fixed plate 21, a spring 23 positioned between movable members 22 which can be displaced vertically with a filler 27 provided at the bottom and a pressing plate 24 which presses a staple against the sheet bundle P above the movable members 22. In addition, a bending member 25 which allows the staple 20 to run through the sheet bundle P and ram so that the tips 20a, 20b of the staple become bent, is embedded above the movable member 22. If the tips 20a, 20b of the staple way out of the sheet bundle P under a pressing action are protruded by a specified amount, the bending member 25 is pushed down to a specified position and then is returned to its original position after bending the tips 20a, 20b of the staple. Following up on this action, the filler 27 intercepts a light- receiving element 30 from receiving a light and again permits a next filling action. An interpretation device interprets whether or not the sheet bundle has been stapled satisfactorily by activation of the light-receiving element 30.</p> |
