Self calibrating electro=optical process control circuit - enters reflected light signals into memory with multipliers and comparators interconnected with timer and ejector stages

A beam of light (3) reflected from a surface (1) being treated by an industrial process is received by a photoreceiver (16) connected to an electronic control circuit. The signal is entered into a memory (7) with its output connected to two multipliers (8,9) in parallel, connected by comparators (10,11) to an ejection stage (12). A proximity sensor (6), adjacent to the treated surface, is connected to a timer (6), synchronised with the arrival of the travelling surface, and connected to a timing stage (13) with outputs connected to the two comparators. The intensity of the reflected light is compared with a standard during a timed period of the treatment cycle.
