The vehicle electric windscreen wiper drive comprises a motor (5) within a motor casing (1) and an associated worm (7) and gear (8) drive located within a gearbox casing (3). The motor and gearbox casings are secured together by spraying a hot plastics substance such as polyamide or similar over flanges (2,4) located around the edge of the motor and gearbox mating faces. The plastics material forms a U-cross-section securing band (10) with an overall thickness approximately a third of the band width. This securing band contracts around the housing flanges as the plastics cools and hardens, exerting a compressive force that acts to secure the two items together. USE/ADVANTAGE - Cheap, simple method of securing windscreen wiper motors and gearboxes together.
