PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration of an optical disk medium by controlling reading power connected to a circuit reading a preformat on an optical disk via a bus up to its minimum value in which the preformat can be read. CONSTITUTION:When a reading command from a host system is received by a host interface circuit 1, a microprocessor 8 decodes the reading command stored in a data buffer 2, powers up a preformat reading power control circuit 10 and reads a preformatted address (ID) and data. Then after transmitting the data to a reading host, the microprocessor 8 directs the preformat power control circuit 10 to power down the preformat reading power to minimum. Thus, the preformat part can be prevented from deteriorating. |
