The machine consists of a base (2) on which a moving column (6) is located to hold the workhead (12). The workhead (12) consists of a front part (12.1) which holds the spindle and a rear part (12.2) which consists of the spindle drive assembly. The two parts can rotate about an axis (A) and joined by a yoke (20). The workhead can rotate on the column (6) about the axis A by at least plus or minus 90 deg., and has an additional translational axis V. All axes are simultaneously controlled by a central programmable numerical controller. USE/ADVANTAGE - Numerically controlled cylindrical grinder which does not require refixturing of complex components.
