A method and system for the purification of contaminated water is described. Contaminated water is passed through a series of filters (5) and an ultraviolet irradiation modulator (2) to be stored as purified water in the storage tank (6). The purified water is periodically recirculated from the tank (6) by a pump (7) through a series of filters (10) and ultraviolet modulators (11, 12) connected by a series of conduits (9) to return to the tank (6) as repurified water. Faucets (15) are provided on the ring main (13) to draw off purified water for use. The ring main (13) is kept at a constant delivery pressure by the pump (7) when the solenoid valve (8) is in a blocked state. |
