The throttle valve adjuster opens under control of a servomotor whose driving power is transmitted to the valve through an electromagnetic coupling. The coupling is separate from the motor and is arranged concentric to the valve shaft, with parts of the servomotor fitted to the valve housing. The throttle valve shaft (1) is coupled to the coupling (17) through a driver dog (11) fitted to the motor armature support (10) and the output side of the coupling is rotatably carried on a projection (21) which is fitted to the housing so as to enclose the shaft (1) with radial clearance. USE/ADVANTAGE - I.c. engines. Valve shaft adjusting force transmitted without flexure using electromagnetic coupling to reduce friction load on shaft bearings, etc.
