The invention relates to a horizontally positioned drum dryer (1) for particulate material such as wood chips, wood fibres and the like, in which a heated pipe bundle (6) and loosening, peripheral and conveying blades (20) are provided, whereas, on the outer periphery of the drum (2), bearing races (3, 4), which are mutually spaced and supported in a guided way in bearing rollers, and a toothed ring (5) for driving the drum (2) are attached, and which has, on the input side, a fresh-air suction fan (17), a fresh-air preheater (18) and a feed unit (14) for the material to be dried and an exhaust fan (26) for the vapours containing the fine parts. In order to remove without any problems the material to be dried, supplied at one end of the dryer (1), at the other end thereof as dried material, the teaching of the invention is to arrange at least one continuously or discontinuously operating conveying device (21, 30) parallel to the horizontal axis of the heated pipe bundle (6) and at a relatively short distance from the inner wall of the drum, which conveying device extends over the entire length of the drum (2). <IMAGE> |
