PURPOSE:To remove vibration acting upon an oil seal which make slidably contact with a rotary shaft so as to perform shaft seal and to enhance the life time of the oil seal by fixing the oil seal to an equipment which is isolated by a bulkhead, and by connecting the oil seal to the bulkhead in a gas-tight manner to with the use of an expansion joint. CONSTITUTION:A bulk head seal device isolates a compressor 1 for handling burnable gas, from a drive motor therefor in an LNG ship. In this case an oil seal box 11 is provided in a gear chamber 12 of the compressor 1. The peripheral surface of an wheel shaft 13 is sealed by means of gas-tight oil charged between two oil seals 9 opposing together within the seal box 11. Further, the outside of the oil seal box 11 is attached gas-tightly to a bulkhead 7 through the intermediary of an expansion joint 6. With this arrangement, the vibration from the wheel shaft 13 is reduced and the transmission of vibration to the oil seal box 11 from the bulkhead 11 is shut-off. Meanwhile, the oil seal box 11 is moved integrally with the gear chamber 12 in association with a thermal expansion of the latter. |
