PURPOSE:To generate a concave spherical surface and polish it in changing working tools with the same finishing machine as well as to finish the highly accurate concave spherical surface as free from the form of a workpiece. CONSTITUTION:A workpiece 1 is installed free of rotation or clamping, setting up a holder 2, holding a spherical tool 3 for the workpiece 1 free of movement, on a top face 1a of the workpiece 1. This holder 2 is installed free of access or separation to or from the top face 1a and also free of rotation around a turning shaft perpendicular to this top face 1a. In the holder 2, there is provided a supply hole 5 of fluid pressing the spherical tool 3 up to the top face 1a. Also, there is provided a coolant supplying means 7 feeding a gap between the workpiece 1 and the tool 3 with a grinding fluid 6. Fluid pressure presses the spherical tool 3 to the top face 1a of the workpiece 1 in the orthogonal direction. In addition, with rotation of the holder 2, the spherical tool 3 is rolling on the top face 1a of the workpiece 1. With this constitution, a concave spherical surface 8 is formed into the workpiece 1. |
