PURPOSE:To provide a connector element as a component of an optical switch connector which can eliminate application of an excessive external force, has an excellent durability and realizes a small size. CONSTITUTION:An optical switch connector according to the invention comprises a pair of connector elements 32, 34 which are mounted in such a way, that the ends of optical fibers 36, 38 are exposed at the end faces of the elements, and are coupled slidably at the end faces 32a, 34a, reference pins 56, 58 to be inserted into locational grooves 46, 48, 52, 58 formed in the two connector elements in such a way as striding over the grooves of these two members and also movably at a certain pitch in the sliding direction of the elements, and a single plunger 64, 64a which moves in three steps in the direction approx. perpendicular to the sliding direction of the connector elements into the case where it presses the side faces of the two connector elements and into the case where it presses only the side of either connector element, changes over the contacting condition of the reference pins relative to the locational grooves in three steps, and changes over optical path connected condition of optical fiber terminals with one another mounted on the connector elements in three steps. |
