PURPOSE:To detect the states of a part and the whole of a check object character to perform flexible and accurate check by detecting a defect of the check object character based on comparison between a reference value and normalizing correlation values between divided areas of picture data of the check object character and divided areas of a master character. CONSTITUTION:In a check device where the check object character of characters, graphics, symbols, etc., is checked based on picture data obtained by picking up the image of the check object character by CCD cameras 11a, 11b,...11e, a defect of the check object character is detected based on comparison between the reference value and normalizing correlation values between divided areas of picture data of the check object character and divided areas of the master character. |
