Acetals are used as a mineral oil substitute, as an oil component or base oil in inverted-emulsion muds, emulsion muds, engine oils, transmission oils and lubricating oils, as well as metal working fluids, coolant fluids, cooling lubricant fluids and hydraulic fluids. Compared to the conventional mineral oils, acetals are readily biologically degradable and are less toxic. |
