PURPOSE:To obtain a rubber composition for tire tread excellent in on-ice performance, ice and snow performance, wear resistance and breakage resistant characteristics, etc., by blending a diene based rubber with a heat infusible granular phenol resin and reinforcing agent. CONSTITUTION:The objective rubber composition for tire tread obtained by blending (A) 100 pts.wt. diene based rubber (e.g. natural rubber or butadiene rubber) with (B) 2-15 pts.wt. heat-infusible granular phenol resin having 1-2mum average particle size and preferably having higher methylol content, e.g. phenol resin having 7-8wt.% methylol group content and >=10000 molecular weight and (C) 30-80 pts.wt., preferably 35-55 pts.wt. reinforcing agent selected from carbon black and silica and as necessary curing agent, curing accelerator, organic peroxide, filler, etc., and capable of providing a cured rubber satisfying the formula [E is pts.wt. (based on 100 pts.wt. rubber) of an extract content obtained by subjecting the cured rubber to extraction and separation treatment with acetone/chloroform solvent mixture; F is pts.wt. of reinforcing agent based on 100 pts.wt. of the above-mentioned rubber]. |
