PURPOSE:To facilitate the dimming control and provide a display device which can be started certainly. CONSTITUTION:A rectangular wave voltage inverter 2 and a sine wave voltage inverter 3 are connected with a DC power supply. The rectangular wave voltage inverter 2 is connected with the main electrode Lm of a discharge lamp L through a transformer Tr1, ballast circuit B, and transistor Q, while the sine wave voltage inverter 3 is connected with an aux. electrode La and filament Lf through a transformer Tr2, wherein the discharge lamp L is arranged in plane form and in the form of a grating. The dimming control is facilitated by impressing a rectangular wave voltage between the main electrode Lm and filament Lf, while the starting characteristics are ensured by impressing a sine wave voltage between the aux. electrode La and filament Lf. |
