PURPOSE:To perform the processing for extracting the contour information on a graphic from a binary picture at a high speed. CONSTITUTION:The picture data in a picture memory 1 is divided into a grid state by picture transfer circuit 2 and is transferred to plural picture memories 3 via a data bus. A follow-up starting point detection means 4 scans the data in the picture memory 3 spirally from outside to inside and detects a boundary picture elemet (a picture element of value '1' adjacent to a picture element of value '0'). A circuit 5 detects a continuous boundary picture element train by the follow-up processing defining the boundary picture element detected in a circuit 4 as a starting point. A circuit 6 monitors the coordinate value for the boundary picture element outputted from the circuit 5 and makes the follow-up by the circuit 5 stop when it comes at the end of the picture. The coordinate value outputted from a circuit 5 is stored in a memory 7. A circuit 8 reads the data from the memory 7 and forms the boundary picture element train for a close loop by synthesizing the boundary picture element train for an open loop utilizing a work memory 9. |
