The method involves subjecting two measuring inputs (M1, M2) of a measuring device (MV) with an identical measuring signal (S1). Third and fourth measuring inputs (M3, M4) are subjected with reference signals (S-Ref1, S-Ref2), respectively. The measuring and reference signals resting against at the measuring inputs are processed by the measuring device to signal values and the concerned signal values are written into respective assigned registers (R1-R4). The signal values contained in respective registers are tested regarding a given criterion.
